Icon10 Finally Got a Trans

So I finally found a trans at a reasonable price and dove round trip 18hrs to pick it up. Its the M2Y4.

Got a speeding ticket of course.

But I now have a trans that will be better then this POS!

On another note, when i was carrying the trans to my closet it slipped off my dolly and broke the speedo sensor housing. I have an extra from the SH trans I bought so I will switch that..

But my main question is, I want to crack this trans open and check for any signs of problems. What should I be looking for while I am in there? I also noticed it doesn't have a gasket, rather it has the gasket glue, should I still use the gray gasket goo when reassembled or a different kind?

How easy would you say it is to change the seals and what not, and what other items should I be changing while it is open?

Freaking excited about doing this swap!!!

Giving him my old cables. Old tranny mount is pretty worn or I would send it as well.

Let me know if you need the shifter.

Re: Finally Got a Trans

I pretty much have everything but the following:

Cables - Pending Shipment; Thanks to Synergizer's generosity & time
Clutch Kit - Pending shipment from someone on pp
Fly wheel - Pending shipment from someone on pp

I could use a trans rebuild kit if someone has one or knows a link for a total kit with seals, gaskets, bearings, etc. Otherwise I will be using local Honda stealership.

Also need shift cable bracket that sits on trans

Re: Finally Got a Trans

Was looking around for rebuild kits and found this site:

H22 Prelude Carbon synchro rebuild kit

Anyone use these guys before and is this overkill for a m2y4 trans?

People over at PP seem to have good things to say.
