F20Beezy BB6

Hey all, been a member for almost if not more than a year. I have owned a bb6 for over a year but have only driven it less than 2 months. When i first bought it, the motor blew within 30 days. It sat and rusted over time and now I finally have it running and in my possession. Within 3 weeks of having my car back, my girlfriend backs into someone and caused some paint scuffs on the rear bumper. I've had bad luck letting other people drive my cars: del sol - dui accident into a cop car, friend driving. BB6 - parking lot accident, caused by my GF. My only rule for the car now is that I'm the only driver. anywho here it is my bb6.......

mods - none, my goal is 210-230whp N/A, with a stock bottom end
100% bone stock f20B w/h23 tranny - budget build, current 30mpg and lovin it

Now before all you f20b haters attack, here's my reasoning for choosing this platform to work with:
- inexpensive to swap in, apart of a budget.
- yes torque is lacking but only down lower rpms
- stock semi port head out of factory, iron sleeves and best of all 11:1 compression, makes it more efficient to have stage 2 camshafts
- i wanted the higher revving motor because i wasnt too impressed with how the h22 was, torquey yes, but vtec ehh could be better.
-when looking up stock dynos, the f20b dynos were consistently in the 171 area, where as the h22 dynos were from as low as 140-170's, motors are not created equally but consistency made my decision.

with that being said I find this setup not as pricey as an h22 to achieve my target HP rating. The car feels like a faster civic si (EM1) and is a blast to drive, the goal is not the fastest, just building for personal commuting and for fun.

To the OP - this isnt hater-tech. The only thread I have seen full on flaming was the kid asking how to launch an auto lude...

Tip for the build: dont let your friend have your tranny. Mine is still a "to be continued".

Re: F20Beezy BB6

like i said i have no need to be the fastest, just really building this for DD and hearing vtec roar on a daily basis. VTEC on this is a best, kicks in at 5400 and pulls much harder from 6500 to redline. driving down low is the only time i notice the torque difference.

besides getting an intake, the first mod i'd probably get are cams, valvesprings, and p28 to tune, exhaust more than likely the last mod. Anyone have any experience driving a f20b around? I havent seen honda95 around.

More air means more fuel. I would suggest a fuel pump before you start to tune it. Last thing you want is to run lean and detonate after all of the time and money you are putting into the car.

Picked up my Walbro 255lph-HP for like 110$ shipped.

i hear you too on that comment, all the down about the f20b made me research dynos and comparing stock dynos of h22a4, f20b, h22a, made me want the f20b. The powerband of the f20b is different, torque is up top. I've been in the scene for a while now, and have come to realize which of Honda's motors i like. Big Mike's infamous dyno video is on youtube being tuned by bisi. This was the best option for my budget DD build. I already like the power, just need a little more and i'll be set. As for the b20 is that going into a 3rd gen? If you don't vtec it, there have been people that have made good power turboing the stock block b20.

good deal thanks for letting me know, what about my injectors? for stage 2 cams i would think that it's not efficient enough for stock h22 injectors, got any suggestion on that?

I'd say go for it, if it's within your budget. I got mine my motor for 730. The fact that no one gets these motors is the reason the price is low also there's a risk...no aftermarket internal parts, the same goes for the h23a bluetop. I dont plan on beating my motor up just want a bit faster than stock. your car is at least 300lbs lighter then a 5th gen so it would feel better in your car than mine, although i like how my car is now. for the civic si (99-00 em1) Honda puts a b16a2 in the car and people still modify those cars with good results. Some would say putting a b16a into an Integra (DC) is pointless but integras weigh lighter than EM1's so i dont see why not.
