Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Issues

Ive had to put about 4 on mine too. Im pretty sure the mechanic ordered a cheap peice of **** master cylinder from autozone.(Only reason i went to the mechanic is because i replaced it the first time and lets just say im not good with tight spaces haha). The first one just quit working so we replaced it, that same one quit working so we took it to the local imports mechanic and he replaced it and the part was still under warranty so i only paid for labor. However it went out too and so they replaced the slave cylinder and worked on it forever to get it bleed correctly. They actualy had to use a pump on mine to get it bleed correctly. But anyway that one wound up leaking on the inside actualy squirting on my ankle when i mashed the clutch at burger king. So the replaced that one too. and even now the one i have is leaking on the engine side of the firewall but it leaked to the point where a bunch of brake fluid has clumped up around the leak and actualy sealed it so i aint fixin it till that seal breaks. Save yourself the time and just get a factory replacement and not a stupid cheap autozone master cylinder.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Issues

god i only had to replace ONE master cylinder, and i swore to myself i'd never do another one cuz of how much a PITA they are.
taking that goddamn cotter pin in/out might be one of the hardest tasks on our cars due to the extremely tight spaces.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Issues

i went to autozone for 4 of the masters (all under warrenty thankfully) but i got fed up. i went to napa and paid a extra $20 and got a direct oem replacement. I used a vacumm pump to bleed the system at the recomendation of my car club vp (former honda dealership mech.)and he gave me a hand bleeding it. it seams that bench bleeding it makes a huge diffrence. im not sure if i should chalk up all the failures to crap autozone parts or if the route of the problem is somewhere else.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Issues

i agree bench bleeding makes installing/bleeding a MC a thousandddd times easier, but i do not think a failed MC can be attributed to not bench bleeding it.
i believe the only thing not bench bleeding would/could cause is just an air bubble that's hard to bleed out. idk, i could be wrong tho.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Issues

Yea however, i am sure that maybe one part or so from autozone could of been a flawed peice, but there must of been some other factors involved. But hopefully the new one you get in works for you. Look at it this way you probably could do the swap with your eyes shut now..
