AC is not working HELP!!

HI I got a 97 SH and for some reason the ac is not coming out of the center console vents. Both the left and right sides work but there is no air coming out of the middle. It was working before I took it to the shop and now does not. Do you guys think that they could of mess with the lines and disconnected it? or maybe the ac blower not working probably? please help.

Re: AC is not working HELP!!

Do your vents change direction when you press the switches?

Does cold air or just cool air come out of the side vents? if just "cool" air - you may need the system re-charged.

Re: AC is not working HELP!!

the vents looks fine and it does change direction. and "cold" air comes out on both of the side vents like it should I just dont know why my middle vents stop blowing out air. I do not think any air comes out of the middle vents or maybe very little air.

Re: AC is not working HELP!!

I had the same problem in my 4th gen, then I read if you kinda hit your dash above the climate control it would. I tried it, and it worked like a charm.

Sounds ghetto but it's worth a shot bro.

Re: AC is not working HELP!!

Probably a screw or something inside the venting blocking the flapper valve thingy from opening.

I found all kinds of crazy sh** in the vent ducts in my truck when I was trying to fix the same issue. Lighter, ramen flavor packet, plastic army men, and a couple latex frisbys.

When I brought the car to the shop all they worked on were switching out new clutch and some other tranny things. but the guy said he never touch the top end so there should never be anything wrong with it.

Some people remove the AC for weight reduction but in my opinion. If I were to do an engine swap (most people leave out the AC) I would definitely put it back in. Gets too hot without it!

Bro I lived in Tulsa, OK for 3 yrs. Landon will back me in sayin OK is ungodly hot. I **** u not its 106 in SW OK right now. I ran no AC the whole time and had no issues. If anything get one fo those little fans and clip it on the visor. Problem solved. Not only does it save us some weight but it also frees up a few ponies. Less parasitic drag on the motor from accessory pulleys = more power. Now it won't be a huge gain ur lookin at maybe 3hp tops but still every little bit helps.

Can totally understand people who race or track their cars but I use mine as a daily driver all season so AC is quite important to me. I'm ok with losing some horses. If anything I added a sound system (which adds quite the weight) to enjoy my music and my doors and trunk are fully dynamatted. I'm more of a cruiser, not racer. I get hot easily too. Sleep with the windows open during the winter in Canada

Sometimes I ask myself why I didn't just buy a luxury car...
