Icon10 J32A1 in a BB6

Hey everyone! Ive been doing a ton of research lately and have found many answers on this forum that have helped alot and for that - I thank you. That being said, my 97 'lude is showing its age both on the shell and under the hood. I guess 180,000 miles will do that though... Enough depressing talk!

Starting in about two hours I will be stripping the car down. I plan to have an empty and cleaned engine bay by the end of the weekend. I will be posting pics of my progress.

Plan:
J32a1 (due to the electronics matching)
6mt
Keeping P/S & A/C (its a DD and i hate being hot)
Moderate wire tuck
suspension upgrade(s)

Parts I have now:
(2) J32a1's - 1 for parts, other has 55k on it
1 6mt from 04 Accord - 60k
Accord shifter box and all linkage
clutch & flywheel
axles
multiple wiring harneses for plugs
02(ish) ECU
Sheets of steel for fab (multiple thickness)

On order:
Walbro 255
AEM FPR
Explicit Speed Traction Bar w/front mount (5-7 weeks out)

Need to order:
Hasport mounts (today)
AP1 radiator from s2000 (today)
Heavy wire for battery tuck

This is not the first J swap I've done. I had a hand in putting a J32 with triptronic into a civic. Good thing I have more room under my hood because that was a nightmare.

I will post more tonight/tomorrow morning with pictures.

*edit*
I am NOT the brain behind this swap. I am simply the guy with the credit card, turning the wrench, and with great friends willing to help. Credit will be given to those that helped in any way with this swap.

*edit #2*
Before anyone asks, yes there is a spare on the car now. It bothers me to see it like that but I will put new rubbers on both sets of rims before the car is completely finished. I somehow managed to pick up two nails and a self tapping screw in the same tire. I know, right? How the hell does that work?

Re: J32A1 in a BB6

There are 2 Preludes that have had the J swap done, so seeing a 3rd would be great. Definitely will be starting a new trend, but now it's making me think that I should do a J swap to my RHD Prelude :p I assume you've checked this thread out http://www.preludepower.com/forums/s...d.php?t=332517

yes sirrrrrrr! this is very good... i've been thinking of doing this swap on my 95 ODY. thought about using the j35 though, are there any major differences in the swap and stuff included? so i take it the CL s-type and Accord 6spd tranny are the same? and will it work on the j35? thx.

Re: J32A1 in a BB6

H22 is out. Hard part of the swap is done. My shopping list changed dramatically today so I'm going to be canceling some orders and making new ones.

Put a dent in the driver side shock tower with a pry bar. I'm kind of butt hurt but I'll fill it before we paint the engine bay. Going with the dodge (viper) snakeskin green for the bay mainly because there is some extra at the shop nobody has claimed. Thinking I'll stick with my green pearl on the sides and nighthawk on the upper half of the car. Getting ahead of myself though - that will be this winter.

Still no computer to post pics. Guys night out so I'll post tomorrow.

Re: J32A1 in a BB6

Due to the traction bar, i have enough room to mount the engine/tranny low enough to keep my hood. The A1 intake is slightly shorter as well. When I switch to the A2 intake later on, I may have to cut the webbing on my hood.

Anyways, update:

A different traction bar is now on order. The guy at explicit speed couldnt answer his phone and gave me half-*** answers to my questions over email. Not going to wait 5-7 weeks anyways.
Mushimoto AP1/AP2 s2000 radiator is now on order.
Mounts are being put together now by Don @ RPM Systems. Without him - this build would never work. Thanks man!

Plan for tomorrow:
Clean shop since I trashed it today
Remove P/S, A/C, and ABS lines
Remove stock mount ears
Find parts to do ABS delete
Pull fenders
Steam clean engine bay
Figure out how to fix the broken shifter I was sent. One of the cutouts for a cable is broken so I will probably just cut some steel to match it and make it work.

On a side note, its taking everything I have not to buy that Mugen bumper on here. I keep telling myself I had to do the J swap due to my sheer inability to live without it any longer and the bumper can wait.

Re: J32A1 in a BB6

New photo album.

Prelude pictures by synergizerer - Photobucket

Once I find something wrong with the car, I look into fixing it. That would be the reason why I took pics of scratches, dents, and poor body work.

As far as I know it would work but that is a question for TLDreams on j32a.com. That dude took his build completely over the top and blew me away with his craftsmanship.

I went with the j32 over the j35 based on cost and availability. I would spend three times as much on a j35 engine/tranny as I would on the j32 withought any major gains. The money I have saved so far will be well spent on air pressure once I get this up and running properly.

That's Rich, and he's owned I think 14 Preludes last that I knew of. He's definitely a real chill person and he bought that Prelude from another friend of mine and was telling me his plans for the J swap

Hell yea, probably be the only RHD with a J series in it. Would be sweet, but I just don't have the time to make all that happen right now, plus I just shaved and repainted the engine bay

Re: J32A1 in a BB6

Update:

~Bay is empty. Left a couple brake lines to be cut down for the ABS delete.
~Found some rust so that was sanded and then primered to prevent further spread of cancer.
~Wiring harness is pulled completely from bay and dash.

New plan(s)
~tucking battery in dash
~tucking engine fuze box in dash

Wiring will be sent out monday morning overnight fedex.
Going to cut off all tabs and unused bolts from bay and spray to prevent rust

Neglected to take pictures tonight but I will upload more tomorrow when I get back to the shop.
