Mystery Part

Hey so I was looking around my engine bay doing recon to take out the intake resonator this weekend, when I found this random metal piece laying on the near the intake box. I bought my 2001 5th gen in January completely stock, so maybe the previous owner did some engine work and forgot this piece in there? I'm not too worried about it, I'd just like to know what it is/where it's from.
So I'd really appreciate it if someone who recognizes it could tell me what it is.

Thanks!

Re: Mystery Part

Looks like a bracket of some sort. I don't have a 5G so I can't be sure exactly.

Re: Mystery Part

The owner before me did put it a Clifford alarm system, so it being an oem siren bracket is very plausible.

That's what happens when you go gangsta and go from a Lude to a STI!!!

You make more money but LOSE your ed-ja-ma-kation!!!

"I lift things up and put them down...DUM DUM DUM"-PLanet fitness

LMFAO!!!

BACK ON TOPIC:

That bracket I know. It's a bracket that would hold this black plastic lookin flask type thing that would normally sit right behind the intake. But you cant really have that being used once you have a aftermarket intake bc for example....I have a AEM V2 and that tubing is huge and it would cause you to unscrew that bracket and the black flask looking thing and discard the bracket and jus zip-tie the black flask thing to any unused hole or jus tuck it under the intake pipe n ur good. Bc overall it's not going to go anywhere and it wont affect your car at all.

yup we are pretty helpful, most of the time. we're more helpful with very specific questions like yours, rather than questions that get asked 50 times a day like "which wheels should i get?" or "which suspension setup is best?"
those threads immediately get locked, but not before getting hounded by a thousand people to search the site

If I am not mistaken it should open and close the butterfly valve in your stock intake piping.

Re: Mystery Part

Oh ok so when I take out the intake resonator and butterfly valve, that black plastic piece and metal bracket will be useless and need to be removed anyways.

Come to think of it, I did find a chunk of black broken plastic next to the metal bracket when I pulled it out...

Thanks guys
