Is it ignition problem?

Hello,
Few days ago my 98 Lude started to shut off for no reason while driving, this happens randomly. I took it into an independent Honda shop repair and they said it might be the ignition that's acting up BUT they can't tell at this moment and it is up to me weather I wanna replace the ignition or not.
Now when the car shuts off only the blinking green key blinks and no other warnings.
What do you guys think and how complicated this job is? Can i do it ?They are charging me $360 to get it replacer

Thanks in advance!

Re: Is it ignition problem?

sounds possible. one of two things is likely happening. if it turns off and the green key blinks, could be your immobilizer. i have no idea if this is a common failure. also, if you have noticed, when you turn your car off, the green key blinks. so, if your ignition is failing and it thinks you turned the key off, the key will blink. just ask though and make sure you get an answer from someone knowledgeable, you may or may not need to replace the immobilizer along with the ignition. some honda techs are unaware of the link. was at a honda desk a month ago and asked the service manager about red keys and he looked blankly at me and when i told him what it was he just shrugged me off like I didnt know what i was talking about.
