I like the Greddy SP2 a lot.

My friend has it:

(thata` me driving )

IMO, it's a lot cleaner sounding than the EVO series.

^^I agree.
I cant stand seeing a fart cannon sticking out from a bumper of a Prelude.
I hate the N1 tone as well. HATE.

agreed, the N1 is VERY raspy on N/A cars, my boy had one on his '92 4ws, but its prolly alot better sounding on htswmr6's car cuz he's turbo'd.
any sound clips of that, btw??

I'm a fan. Tanabe makes good products, but I'm an even bigger fan of the Evo2.

ok cool thanks. But yet another question..... becuase I am trying to get a cat-back that gives good sound (doesnt sound like a rice car), and good increase in hp. so if im looking for both those characteristics should I go with the tanabe or the greddy evo 2???

I just bought my lude and it came with a Thermal R & D. That exhaust sounds so good and provides some power. Plus, it is quiet enough that it does not draw the attention of the popo.

but u see im looking for a good sound not a rice sound. and definitely a good amount of hp that u can get out of a cat-back. goto youtube and type in "prelude exaust" (they spelt exhaust like that for hte title on purpose). check out the blue prelude its towards the middle of the video.... thats what i am trying to get, a sound like that.

You mean the one with the dual mellon shooters?

WHOA that is overkill loudness!! You wont be able to hear yourself or your girlfriend talking(which is a good thing sometimes lol!) inside the car or your music while you drive.

...all honestly, an exhaust doesn't give you huge HP gains. Dont make this decision tougher than it seems.

If you want huge HP gains, you either have to turbo or get a new camshaft. The Thermal R & D is about as far as you can get from a rice sound. The exhaust from a distance actually looks stock. The only difference is the exhaust tubing is larger for better exhaust flow.

Thanks, I mean I am aware that you dont get much hp out of a cat-back but I am just trying to get as much as i can. So right now im pretty sure its gonna either be the evo-2 or the tanabe ultra medallion.

Every Tanabe exhaust I've ever heard on ANY car has been rediculously loud. Good HP increase but stupid loud. I had to get rid of mine. I really like the sound of the Greddy EVO II. Also, HKS has a Legamax system out for 5th gens but I haven't heard anything about it. Looks pretty good though.

Tanabe Medallion looks/sounds good. I have an Evo 2 and couldn't be happier. I also looked into Greddy SP2, Apexi WS, RS*R, and Skunk 2. If you want an N1 save the money and buy a universal straight through muffler and have an exhaust shop do 2.5 in piping, it will be just as efficient and save you a crap load of money. Personally, I don't care for the tone on the N1, it's pretty ricey.

I was planning on buying an exhaust in a week or so and was wondering which exhaust has the least ricer sound to it. Idealy i want a deep thoraoty sound.
Also i was looking to get an intake and will most likely be getting the AEM Cold Air Intake and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this particualr intake and would tell me which one is good.

Greddy Evo sounds the most throaty. Like on Qnz92lude's car.

On intakes, check my sig. . .

Okay, N1 for 5g Prelude

Yeah I'm pretty sure that I am going to go with the Tanabe Racing Medallions. I'm Thinking about getting a dual exhuast system. Do I have the right setup for that on a 5th gen?

dual exhaust is a bad idea if you want to go for hp increase u will actually lose back pressure on a dual exhaust and it doesnt make sense on a prelude anyway we dont flow enough gases for a dual exhaust those all are for looks anyway.

jbrew33,
(I don't care for the tone on the N1, it's pretty ricey.)

you think that my exhaust sounds ricey? I am not mad about that i was just wondering if u thought mine sounded ricey cause i dont think it does but i have never heard the exhaust outside of the car really.

twoexlv6coupe,
