Re: replacing rear motor mount

no need to remove the tranny. i removed the upper plenum of my intake manifold, and it gave me plenty of room. you will need a jack though, for when you are removing and reinstalling the bolt that goes through the mount. kinda a pita.

Re: replacing rear motor mount

U dont even have to do all that. When i did mine all i did was jack the front of the car up, put a jack stand on the part of the tranny where the mount bolts, and slowly lowered the car down to release pressure. once it was loose I put the car on jack stands and crawled under it to remove it. I dnt see why it would be any dif for a 5g.

Re: replacing rear motor mount

lol, do all what??

sounds like you are talking about the tranny mount, not the rear mount.

removing the upper plenum is like 5 bolts. just put the jack under the engine (NOT THE OIL PAN!!!!!!!!!!!!) lift it to where you can pull the bolt out and make sure it goes back in. swap the mount, put the bolt back through and your mount is done. the cross member is pretty much right in the way to access it from the bottom, **** i think its bolted to it... it took me all of 30 minutes to install my rear insert.

use this write up, it is for a forth, but its basically the same for removing the rear...i think the rear instuctions start around #10 on the list...

Re: replacing rear motor mount

Only removed my intake and battery to do all 3 innovative motor mounts. The back one was the hardest (getting the bolt through the mount) but got away with not removing anything else.
