HELP COMPRESSION TEST RESULTS. Need advice

Hey guys ive been browsing the forum for help and thought id join. I got some issues with my 01 base that i need help with. dtc 1399 and sometimes p0303 p0304. Only at idle. Anyhow changed plugs wires cap and button all NGK wires and plugs. anyways misfire still there so on to a compression test. Well here are the shabby results:
Cylinder #/ Compression
1 / 200
2 / 180
3 / 110
4 / 90

So I added capful of oil to the cylinders and tested again:
1 / 210 (up 10 psi)
2 / 200 (up 20 psi)
3 / 120 (up 10 psi)
4 / 100 (up 10 psi)

What conclusions should I derive from these tests? I see the compression is up a bit after adding the oil but not a huge increase. Does this indicate bad/bent/burned valve? or could the rings be the problem? Please help.

Re: HELP COMPRESSION TEST RESULTS. Need advice

your piston rings are possibly done. to confirm this, do a leakdown test, take off the oil cap and put your ear to the hole. if you hear the air leaking from there, its your rings.

but since two adjacent cylinders are low, it could very well be your head gasket. take off the radiator cap, and if you see air bubbles in the coolant during the leakdown test, your HG is leaking.

Re: HELP COMPRESSION TEST RESULTS. Need advice

ok thanks i am going to do the test this evening. I dont see any loss of coolant. about a quart and a half low on oil between changes (may be due to small leak that I havent pinpointed yet). no smoke from tailpipe at all. Any chance of it being the valves? (fingers crossed)

By the way what is the best way to go about getting each cylinder on TDC on compression stroke?

Re: HELP COMPRESSION TEST RESULTS. Need advice

with the cam gear arrows and/or crank keyway pointed directly up (12 o'clock), that means #1 is @ TDC.

honda's firing order is 1-3-4-2.

so for every 180* you rotate the crank (COUNTER-CLOCKWISE!!!!!!! never ever ever everrr rotate it clockwise!!) that'll put the next cylinder @ TDC.
