Painting Black Chrome

I'm wanting to paint my Honda emblems black chrome to match my ILLEST emblem. I already debadged my PRELUDE, VTEC, and Type SH. Anyone know how to get that black chrome look on the OEM emblems?

Re: Painting Black Chrome

here you go...never used it, but duplicolor is a pretty good paint...

Re: Painting Black Chrome

I used duplicolor vinyl die with good results. Can't speak for painting over plastic chrome...yet
But if I ever do I'll use sand paper to scuff the surface. Say 800, then finer to remove scratches prior to applying the color. Then wash with mild soapy water and an old toothbrush or other soft scrub brush to ensure no dust remains. Then dry 24 hours. Then paint in the sun at 70+ degrees, let it cure indoors at 60+ a week or so before installing.
I let my vinyl cure 3 weeks. I placed the parts in a cardboard box with the top closed to keep all that tolulene etc from stinking up my house. Then I left it in my shed a couple days to air out the paint smell. But since you are doing an outter emblem that won't be an issue.
