for testing purposes, when i have the gauge apart doing some mods and such, i have been reassembling the cluster and connecting all the harnesses before turning the key. to be safe. is there a chance of damage to any electronics by only connecting the area of the gauge im working on. even if i start the car...would save me a heap of time.

no, don't see any reason why you would damage anything. the only thing the cluster does is transmit data to you. I really see no possibility of damaging anything without certain areas connected

should be fine...I've driven my car without a cluster before, cause I was doing my LED conversion and nothing happened to it
