Re: headlights

If you want hid's then I think 6000k would be your winning choice for the best output, but that's just me.

Your HID's will be useless and illegal without proper projectors/retrofits. I've been pulled over for it before.

Truer words have never been spoken. ALL factory HID setups use a projector for a reason. This is pretty much why they were invented lol. It's not difficult, or even really expensive. There are a couple of routes to go, on the cheap go to a junkyard, Mazdas and Infinitis from the early 2000's have halogen projectors with 9006 bases. Or the best way is hit up Theretrofitsource.com and grab the mirimoto mini projectors for HID. Nearly the same output as TSX's, and its a non cutting install. Just place in the hole, screw down nut...etc.

Do NOT put HID's in a stock housing. Illegal....and really, an asshole thing to do.

Re: headlights

fyi not all factory hid lights use projecters, the toyota prius for example.
also in a h1 housing for the morimoto mini to be installed the bulb hole must be widened, ie cutting.Write-Up: Installing Morimoto mini projectors. - Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums

Re: headlights

8K looks stupid as f*ck. OEM HIDs are between 4200k and 4500k. Retrofits are technically illegal as well, but they fly under the radar because they don't look like ricer plug-n-play HIDs.

Re: headlights

6000k is the best output for aftermarket HID's. When retrofitting, generally you will use an OEM setup so it'll have OEM 4300k bulb. I went aftermarket 6000k for better output with my TSX projectors.

As for OEM HID's without projectors, yes. My Acura CL-S has HID's and they don't use projectors, it's a custom shield that is used to cut off the glare. IS300's also have glare shields that have auto aiming for hills when you go up and down.

depends on what type of setup you're wanting. My pricing ranges from $550-$850 all parts included(bulbs, ballast, projectors, shrouds, labor) would just need your lights to complete the work...The whole process usually takes me 3-5 days to complete and ship back out. Sometimes I'm able to get them done sooner. I also have loaner lights you can use if your car is your DD With retrofits, I don't suggest going higher than 6000k bulbs, cause anything after that is just killing your lights output

Wrong.

Partially wrong. No, there isn't a "custom shield used to cut off the glare", but rather that the entire reflector in the headlamp was designed to be used with HID, rather than a halogen based reflector with some sort of homo casper shield added. And IS300 headlamps have motors that level the entire reflector assembly (not to be confused with housing), not just the "glare shields".

Not to be a dick or anything, but I just want to set the facts straight... The higher up in the color spectrum you go, the less your eyes can process.

Re: headlights

Hmm. Sorry.

But as for the light output. I personally have found that 6000k output seems a bit better then 4300k. My Acura has 4300k and doesn't seem great. But it is true. I've driven my friends M3 with 8000k output. It's not as bright and it hurts your eyes which is why I also have bright yellow halogens for fogs.

So you prefer 4-4500k? Just plain white? I prefer 6k to 8k but i like the slight blue look. I think it looks clean and nice.

I love all three of these

Re: headlights

I've been rockin 6000k bulbs for about 2-3 years now, and I like it, but just recently put in some 5000k bulbs just cause I was getting tired of the blue tint look. It was time for a change, and I can see much better

Re: headlights

I have a 5000k kit laying around (DDM). It makes a fantastic white color. I only bought it as an experiment, and I proved myself wrong. However, I don't use it now because I refuse to be a hypocrite lol.

My favorite HIDs are Phillips 85122+
