Icon5 Help with jdm swap

Hey guys I am swapping my h22a4 sh type motor and tranny for a h22 jdm red top with the sh tranny. I have some to the distributor and now I realize that the one on my jdm motor is different than the stock motor. Te wiring is different. Anyone done this swap before? I want to use the jdm ecu that came with the motor but now I think I have to use the stock ecu and the distributor. Let me know if you have any suggestions/comments. Hopefully this weekend it will be done. Putting the stage 4 competition clutch and fidenza flywheel in today!

Re: Help with jdm swap

I have done this swap and the JDM distributor is an internal coil. are you using the JDM wiring harness? or did you swap your old harness over? If you are using the USDM harness you will need to swap distibutors, hook up a knock sensor to the block and use the USDM ECU.

There are other things involved with swapping the distributor back to external coil, but I can't remember off the top of my head...and because I kept the internal coil.

When I did the swap I used the JDM harness and ECU and had no problems.

Re: Help with jdm swap

I don't have the harness so I guess it's going to have to be the stock distributor and ecu
