put in HIDs but im unhappy =\

So my bf surprised me with HIDs and I was so happy, yay! But after he installed it, realized he put HIDs into the stock halogen housing.=\ I did not want that. We threw away the old bulbs, now I'm stuck with glaring HIDs. It's not glaring very much right now cause I have some haze in the top of my headlights that need to be polished but I need to fix this! I'm always hating in ppl who blind me with their glaring HIDs cause they have halogens and not projectors, now I'm that person.

I wasn't planning doing my lights for a while cause I wanted to spend money on maintenance, but it seems I gotta save up for some projectors or retrofits now. What do you guys recommend for some nice but not super expensive projectors/retrofits?

In the mean time, I'll have my headlights polished, aim the lights low so it doesn't glare, and even eyelids If need be. And also going to kick the bf's ass!! What do you think?

(Picture taken with phone- bad quality)

:::Edit::
Feel free to correct me on anything I've said. My car knowledge Is pretty close to zero.

First off. those are such high kelvin's I doubt it'll blind people...

Second. If you don't want to invest in retrofits (since that's the only way to go really) don't bother in buying eBay projectors. Look at glare shields. I've used them before and I have friends who use them on civics that don't look too good with bug eyed projector style retrofits and they don't glare at all.

Re: put in HIDs but im unhappy =\

mine came with my car. i find them to be a 7/10. they are the hids with the single leds on either side of the low beam. main drag with these is the running light/high beam has burnt/melted all the finish off around the bulb itself. whenever money allows ill get the dual halo angel eyes. i think they are the sickest of all.

Re: put in HIDs but im unhappy =\

drjless halos have a tendency to melt or burn out =\

op get a diff bulb temp...go down to 4500 5000 or 6000k

also are they 35w?

also adjust them...ive got 5000k in stock housings and the glare isint that bad the amount of people flashing me is pretty much the same as when i had crappy ass silver stars.

It should have been really obvious before you installed them that you didn't have projectors, what was the point of even installing them?

You can get your lights retro'd for $550 with the morimoto mini's from Brian.. That's about the cheapest you can go and they look sexy.. I plan on finally getting it done for my birthday..

That's really the only way to do it.. Tell ya boy to buy em :)

Re: put in HIDs but im unhappy =\

these are two examples of what im talking bout. first ive heard of halos burning out. im not saying its not true, i just hadnt heard that. cruel, are you just talking about the rings around the hid? how long do they last?

the first pic is something similar to what i have. see how the high beam sits above the hid, about a half inch from the plastic.

the second pic is what im eventually looking at getting, unless they are the ones referred to as burning out...

Re: put in HIDs but im unhappy =\

I wasn't the one installing them, otherwise I woulda said no right away when I found out there weren't any projectors. But what's done is done. They're actually 5000k,superwhite but they look HELLa blue in the picture.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to spend more than $200-300 but I guess I'll have to. I've heard of tsx retrofits in prelude and tsx are the best, I wonder how much they cost? Might go that route. If not then maybe I'll go for the morimoto that you guys mentioned.

Thanks for the help guys, I had an idea of what projectors people had, but wasn't which ones were most cost effective and still good quality. Will definitely look into what yoy guys mentioned.

Ya you probably just turned them on and they were just warming up. but ya your gonna pay like a grand for retrofits. if you like the look of those other after market ones then do it up! but main point, retrofits will rape your purse

Contact Brian1897 (others do retro's too)

The tsx's are around 700-800 and the fx's were around the same.. If I remember correctly.. Plus he will clean up the hazing of ur headlights for free

The morimoto's have a great output and is 1000000 times better than eBay projectors or hids in regular headlights..eBay projectors are still made for halogen lights..

Hope this helps

Re: put in HIDs but im unhappy =\

LOL, I read the title of this thread and just knew I needed to post I here. Well, if you're wanting to use your current bulbs, I can build a retrofit using thre morimoto minis, but if you'd like to have TSX projectors, you can use your current ballast, but you'll need d2s/d2r bulbs and amp connectors. The TSX's aren't the best projectors, but they are some pretty good projectors to use in the Prelude headlights. Trust me and everyone else I've built a retrofit for, this is probably one of the best mods you can do to your car, plus its a night and day difference from having your stock lights. I almost forgot to mention, I can reclear your lenses for you in the process of building your retrofits

No worries, I've shipped several sets of lights all over the world, so shipping to CA wouldn't be an issue, especially since I've done a few sets for guys over that way. The pricing depends on what type of projectors you're wanting, and I do have loaner lights you could use if your car is your DD
