Maintenance required light

What does this light indicate needs to be done? And mine seems to only appear on when my lights are on and it isn't very bright. Is that normal or would it always be on and brighter?

Re: Maintenance required light

oil change time. maybe not needed now, but its basically a reminder to do so. you will see a little slot near it, put your key in that slot and push in and it will go back to green. i never use mine, but still reset it when i do oil changes...

Re: Maintenance required light

Go back to green? It only lights up when my lights are on and its a dull green. So is there another color it turns?

Re: Maintenance required light

If you are green you are good, yellow close for oil change, red time for oil change.. Its just a reminder I don't use mine but it can help if you do your own oil changes...

Re: Maintenance required light

It's not a light. it's a small round disk that moves slowly like your odometer.

when its green - you're good go go, it will hit orange around 4-5k and red around 7,000 miles.

Really it doesn't mean anything, Honda used to say change your oil every 7k but in reality we all change it at 3k, or whenever it gets dirty

Re: Maintenance required light

I just hit the reset with my key to keep it green. I change my oil every 3,000 miles anyway - so it serves no purpose to me really.

Re: Maintenance required light

If you're GREEN then you're fine. Ignore that like the rest of us and jus remember to do your own oil change at around 2500-3000 miles. I usually change my oil around 2500 bc personally I dont wanna wait til the oil gets that dirty n nasty at around 3000 miles.

Re: Maintenance required light

owners manual explains it.it also reccomends you have your authorized honda dealer rest it.yep
mine was red when i got the car. i changed it to green despite the manual advising me to have an authorized honda dealer do it.
i figure if it turns red i'm due to rotate my tires
