Re: Intake help

Duel Chamber one sits under your hood sucking in hot air, other one goes down in your fender well and sucks in water if your not careful, if you go with the one that the filter sits in your wheel well its advised to get a air bypass filter to prevent hydro-lock.

I dont like intakes personally, had an aem one on mine when I got it and sold it. I got a short one on for now till I get a stock oem one to put back in

I was thinking about the dual chamber, but they both say cold air though? I like the blue color to match my car with everything else blue on it.

Re: Intake help

the "dual chamber" one is also known as the aem v2. and honestly, an intake is pretty much an intake. the ones that deliver the "most" power are the stock, type s and that aem v2. also note, the only real differance between like, any intake is like 2hp

Re: Intake help

What about getting a blue one though, my Lude is blue and I'm fixing to go all out project on it and keeping it blue trim/accesories. I'm looking for the blue LEDs in the sidemarker, blue calipers, silver and blue stereo reciever, blue spark plug wires, and strut bars.

Re: Intake help

In my opinion, there really is no point in having a cold air intake unless your tracking your car or you enjoy the sucking sound from the intake. You'll notice no gain at all and you'll be down $200-$300. You'll risk hydro-locking your motor or if the filter/pipe has a hole somewhere you'll get junk in your engine.

Best bet is to save your money and just use your stock intake with K&N drop in filter or go Type-S with K&N drop in filter.

Re: Intake help

I also like the look of it, and the type s intakes are hard to find and expensive. I just want the color, simplicity, space, and sound that it brings to the car. Considering I don't have a muffler, it would make the car sound better until I can do minor stuff in the car because in August its due for an auto to 5spd swap.

Re: Intake help

do the aem V2. I have one and love it. but not worth the price. luckily mine was already there when I bought the car otherwise I would have never bought it.

Honestly get a blue Ebay intake. same results + $250.00 less = Win!

Re: Intake help

if you get a cold air like the aem v1 and are worried about hydrolocking just get the bypass valve.

otherwise pipe=pipe the filter is what makes the difference.

if you really are just going for looks. pick up an ebay intake pipe. its no different than the standard aem pipe and is way cheaper. then you can put a decent filter on of your choice.

x2

tho the type s with a k&n sounds better imo.

not that the aem\ebay aems dont sound bad the type s has a different pitch to it than my friends aem v1

Re: Intake help

My only contemplation with this is, I live in New Orleans, it rains every afternoon during the summer time, and some parts of the city flood up to your doorstep. The corner I live in Floods and gets hard to get through just in a regular suv sometimes, I hear that getting the bypass valve thing is really like a restriction, and pretty much makes the cai intake system itself, almost useless, thats why I was gunna go with the AEM v2 because I keep hearing about the sound, and its getting the better reviews, I was just wanting to do a little homework of my own before I go and spend 300 on my first performance upgrade.

Re: Intake help

if your worried about that the aem v2 or type s would be your best bet...with the type s you can always use the resonator too.just make sure your inner fender splash guard is in good shape.

i dont know about the bypass restricting the intake but i can confirm they work.

I think I'm going with the AEM. Now I just need to find a blue strut bar and new Optima battery.

I just googled a type s one and they wanted a 100 bucks for it, I can get a name brand aftermarket for no more than 75 with shipping.

Re: Intake help

you also need new top hats for the type s bar. but its money well spent if you plan to hoon your car around turns or a track as they actually work.

ive got one on my car
