Hard to shift?

It's somewhat hard for me to shift gears. I usually require to force it in. It has nothing to do with my transmission or clutch. It just doesn't shift smoothly no matter what gear I want to go into even with the clutch fully down. Good friend of mine said it could be the shift linkage. Is that usually the problem?

Re: Hard to shift?

I recently had this problem with my shifting. Have you checked your fluids? If not, your shifting problem is probably because of the brake fluid being low. I resolved the same problem by filling the reservoir back to normal capacity. After a couple minutes of driving, my shifting returns back to normal. I would know since I shift pretty well; as a result, each shift should go in smoothly without any play. Last of all, I would not know if it is shift linkage since I am a noob with a the technical parts within the Prelude. However, it's never to late to learn for me. Anyways, I hope my information helps since I may have experienced the same problem as you.

Re: Hard to shift?

I checked fluids and they're fine. It's hard to shift even when the cars off. It only becomes easy to shift after you've moved it in and out of gear (since the car is off and the gears aren't spinning)

Re: Hard to shift?

Is that expensive?... Does it require the transmission to be dropped?

Neither. The parts are cheap and relatively easy to change. The clutch master is kind of a pita, it took me quite a few extensions.

Which fluids did you check btw? Even if the MTF isn't low, if it is worn out it will make your shifts hard.

Re: Hard to shift?

I had the transmission fluid changed about 4 weeks ago. I've had this problem since when I bought the car in October. Like I said. It's even hard when the engines off. It's like its popping into gear. I have a stage 2 bully clutch. Not sure if this will effect it.
