Thanks guys. I used 600, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit sandpapers, circular polisher from harbor freight, and plastic polisher.

Re: What I did to my prelude today : headlight restoration

I followed the instructions of some videos on youtube. This is not really hard. I think the reason why most headlight restoration kits don't work is because polishing by hand won't be as shiny as by a machine polisher. :)

I'm so glad you posted this! My stock headlights seem to be flaking and I was trying to figure out what to do! I'll be trying this for sure!

Please tell me how you did this. Mine are starting to turn a yellow-shade.

Re: What I did to my prelude today : headlight restoration

the head lights come with like a light clear coat.. its better to sand it off and polish it with rubbing compound which u can get at any auto parts store... the thing that sux is that ur gonna have to polish them about every 2 months if you dont apply an acrylic clear coat.. trust me im polishing mine like atmost every month cuz im lazy and i dont want to clear coat them..
but if they have slight yellowish oxidation you dont even need to sand them down with sandpaper just rubbing compound and if you really wanna go all out finish them with your fav wax.

Re: What I did to my prelude today : headlight restoration

Mine were looking a little hazy so I polished them. Looked great for a couple of months. Now the clear coat is starting to peel seems like all of a sudden, both of them. I have been pricing new on ebay and so forth, expensive. Guess I will end of sanding the clear off and end up polishing every couple of months. Never had to much luck with clear coating, always seems to bubble, lift and the clear I have used does not seem to be very durable. In the long run, might be better off to get off the pocket book. Any suggestions on replacements or good durable clear coats?
Thanks
