Plasti-Dip?

Anyone ever used Plasti-Dip? Me and my buddy are about to Plasti-Dip his whole IS350 for a car show. Wanted to get some feedback on that product. Might consider using it for the winter next year on my car.

Re: Plasti-Dip?

LOL that's nucking futs. It would be original, but I dunno if it's a good idea. It would be a pain in the ASS to get all of it off the car.

Re: Plasti-Dip?

Well he owns a business where he does custom vinyl's for people and he also vinyl's cars as well. It shouldn't be hard taking it off. Just curious if anyone's ever used the material before.

Re: Plasti-Dip?

I've used it on tools and such, never on a car though. I've seen wheels plasti-dipped for winter use. Seems easy enough to use. I guess if you lay down a good coat of wax beforehand, it should be easy to remove.

I know quite a few people that spray clear coat on the front bumper to protect it on road trips.

Yup. And "apparently" you can plasti-dip your rims with clearcoat, then duplicolor them in any color you want and rock them out. Then later on peel them off. Was told by a friend but I've never tried that yet.

Re: Plasti-Dip?

I've used the black plastidip for trim restoration, in high temperatures (black car sitting in the sun) the plastidip has a different consistency and you can actually rub it off which I wasn't fond of.

Maybe it's because I didn't clear coat the plastidip but I didn't think that was necessary.

I used Plastdip on my previous car. Went on well with little prep work and it pelled off around the edges. My buddy is about to dip his entire car...waiting to see how it turns out.

I used it on my stock rims. They have been holding up well for over a year. But the whole car doesn't look good imo.

Heres this company in Houston called Dip-Tex that specializes in plasti-dipping cars. Check out some of the stuff theyve done. Personally I'm not a fan of the idea just cause I don't like the way plasti-dip looks, plus it seems like kind of a hassle. But seriously, check out some of the stuff they've done.
