precut tint off ebay

anyone have any experience with this. i only tried tint once before but it was cheap and only static held. years ago... anyway, it seems straight forward. remove inside panels, apply tint. is it that easy and how reliable are the precuts. last thing i want is to get them and still have to trim into place. thanks

Re: precut tint off ebay

Check the manufacturer of the tint they use and look at their feedback from other buyers.

I've used it once and it was cut find and no bubbles after 5 years.

The good ones you use a heat gun and a special heat activated bonding spray. I watched the instructional video and the guy like heats and stretches the tint over the lens to get it perfect and completely bonded. He also supplies a tool to smooth out wrinkles as you do it, it was pretty labor intensive. I would just buy the night shade spray and tape off whatever sections you don't want tinted. If you are worried about ruining yours just pick up another stock set. If all goes well you sell the non tinted set and get your money back.

Re: precut tint off ebay

In my opinion I would never use precut tint. It's a lot harder to put it on perfectly then applying a roll of tint and then just cutting it off with a knife.

Re: precut tint off ebay

i think knight was talking about tail/head lights
OP i agree with andrew cuz the precut has very little margin for error. its easier to do the same process with a extra hanging off and then just trim it.
but as far as using it, its all the same as long as u do the prep work and procedures right it should hold up and be just fine

Re: precut tint off ebay

hey thanks guys. i was looking at the cost and for the sake of it and to make sure i got a good product i was going to buy the more expensive kit. after reading a bunch of feedback and seeing what you guys have to say here i called a local top notch installer and he only wants 200 bucks. so it costs me an extra 100 or so but with that i get the installation warranty not just a product warranty. factor in the time i would spend and it might be cheaper. thanks again.

Jesus Christ getting tints put in is expensive in the states! I paid $60 for all around and got a garantee.

In the tint and auto body industry you never pay for the materials, you pay for the experience and know how of someone who knows how to do the job right. And the saying "you get what you pay for" most definitely applys.

Save yourself the headache and potentially wasted money if you botch the install and just get a professional to do it for you. Sounds like you have the right idea, warranties can be well worth the extra money since they cover your ass if something goes south, keeps you from having to spend the money all over again.

Re: precut tint off ebay

i booked it in earlier today. as for price, i could drive into the city and yell out i was looking for a tint job and have a bidding war in the street. as low as 80 bones. how could you possibly tint a car right for that much. these guys have been in business for 20 something years and are well known in the county for doing exceptionally good work. the little extra is no somb for a good job. thanks again all.

Re: precut tint off ebay

It's worth it to have a shop with a warranty do it. Good choice :)

There's a reputable shop in Philadelphia that does a full tint job for $99.99

That's the cheapest around, only reason they get away with it that low is because they're busy year-round 6 days a week.

Re: precut tint off ebay

Any shop can warranty there product put what will die faster, the tint peeling off, or the garage going out of business. I'd get a garage that has good reputation.
