Summer Tires Recommendations for a 5th Gen?

I need some recommendations on summer tires for a 5th gen. I have a set of Blizzaks for the winter but need summer tires as the weather is getting nicer. My driving style is moderately agrressive and would like a high performance tire that wears well and somewhat affordable. I am looking at 215 45 17 size tires. What are you guys and gals riding on these days and do you like them and would you buy them again? Thanks for the feedback.

You should most likely run 215/40/17 to avoid the risk of your speedometer running incorrectly. As for the tires. Yokohama ADVAN's are street legal but a lot of track drivers use them as well.

BFG G-Force Sports are probably the best summer tire I have ever bought. You can find a bunch of tire reviews here:

I've got the BFG G-Force KDW2's and have been really happy with them.

I rock the Falken Ziex as well as most of us in NYPOC!!!

They ride smoothly, no loud sticky noise while driving on the road n they seem to last pretty long!!!

Re: Summer Tires Recommendations for a 5th Gen?

all aforementioned tire are great tires. definitely check out the tire review thread 1badbb6 posted. some great information there.

as mentioned 215/40/17 is a better option if you want to use them.

i use nitto neo gens. one thing that determines the handling ability of a tire is its contact patch. nittos have some of the biggest patches (fewer tread groves) of any other tire out there that is a summer performance tire. but even with the limited tread groves it handles surprisingly well in the rain.

i've used these tires on a few auto-x races and i was very impressed. i'm on my 2nd set now. 1st set lasted about 35k that included 4 auto-x races. the 2nd set, i'm at about 32k now. i probably have another 5-6k left on them. i also drive pretty aggressively day to day.

as for affordability, i know my idea of affordable is different then many others. so i'll say this at least, i consider the tire a very good value.

Re: Summer Tires Recommendations for a 5th Gen?

re760 sports...done and done.

ive had toyo proxes...which i hated, they are too loud and the sidewalls cracked on multiple tires...and neo gens, which i REALLY hated, didnt last long, and when they started to wear, they WOULD NOT grip. i will never run toyo or nitto again...

Re: Summer Tires Recommendations for a 5th Gen?

I need new summer tires this year too and have been looking into the Yokohama S.Drives. Seem pretty affordable and haven't really heard anything bad about them yet. I've used a bunch of Falken Ziex (912/512) in the past and don't really have any complaints with the exception I felt I did a little more hydroplaning than usual.
