Re: rebuild suggestions

Do some research, you do not want to bore out then turbo because you will have smaller cylinder walls (you can but its not great), you also cannot use aftermarket pistons with FRM walls. You should sleeve your block for a turbo and that is ~ $1,000

Re: rebuild suggestions

U can use aftermarket pistons on your frm walls. Theres mahle and jun pistons u can use. But I know what you were saying keegan.

Op. Like stated above, do more research. If your looking for big power I would sleeve the block and just build that. Start reading up and dont purchase anything until u know exactly what you want.

Re: rebuild suggestions

Well I know you can use those ones, but I would rather just sleeve the block and be safe I will only use stock pistons with my FRM walls.

i appreciate the suggestions, very helpful. im starting to consider just buying an already built h22 crate motor that is turbo ready. you proly think im crazy to want an h22 but i want the weight for better traction. do you guys think i would be further ahead and save money by doin this or should i rebuild wat i have

Re: rebuild suggestions

You would almost definitely save money buying one that is already built. There is someone selling a fully built turbo motor (without the turbo) over on Prelude Power for $4,000 and he has been trying to sell it for a while so I am sure you could talk him down to $4,000 Shipped if you tried.

$1,000+ for sleeve
$500+ rods
$500+ pistons
$300+ valve job
$500+ OEM gaskets and seals
$700+ Valvesprings, valves, retainers

that is already $3,500 plus he has more done and it comes with this:

AEM Fuel Rail
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Precision 1000cc injectors
Injector Clips
9MM Wires
MSD Ignition Coil
Resistor Box

He says he has $5,800 into the motor which is how much you can expect to spend also.

Re: rebuild suggestions

the h22 is heavier than most engines, more weight on the front wheels=less wheel spin and more traction

The motor I was talking about was an H22 also, and that statement is not necessarily true...
