Start over?

OK so I found what I thought was a decent 5 speed on Ebay for my swap but turns out it is crap ... needs new sychros from what we can tell ... so what I am wondering is if I use a Accord tranny (P2A8 if I remember right) will all of my conversion stuff work on the Accord tranny. As far the intermediate half shaft and axles go are they same? Also what do I use for a tranny mount? One of an Accord or the manual Prelude one I have?

Thanks in advance for being patient with my noob questions ... if there is a post that addresses this issue I have not been able to find it ... All I know is that F/H series is compatible but confused what to use on what ....

Re: Start over?

I have a 98 base ... bone stock so I'm guessing its the H22a4? The Accord is a 2002 with a F23A1 motor and the tranny code is P2A8

Re: Start over?

Accords have longer gear ratio so you wont have good get up but you will have better fuel econ.

Re: Start over?

Right I understand that the Accords are longer in the gears but my question is if I get the Accord trans will all of my other conversion stuff that I have bought be adaptable to it ... ie: intermediate half shaft, trans mount, clutch kit, etc.?

Re: Start over?

I believe all the parts should work for the conversion with the accord trans you are going to use.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Start over?

How much did you pay for the trans on eBay? I was looking at some that are on there and if you got a bad one for 200+ that sucks and I would dispute.

Re: Start over?

Ya I filed a dispute but I am guessing it's not a speedy process I paid $500 for the trans and $115 for shipping so not sure how much I will get back if the dispute goes my way.

Sucks because Preludes are non existent around here in salvage yards and Accords are like a$$holes ... I can get the Accord trans for $200 though so it will have to work for now. Pretty much over a barrel since I have everything out of my Lude and need a new trans ASAP.

Thanks for the help though ... looks like I am off the the salvage yard bright and early tomorrow morning.

Same here. Never found one in the last 2 years. Either they go to fast or they never make it to the yard. Hope you find something soon!
