Powered Side Mirrors?

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum and I just got my first Prelude. I love it more than the GTI I traded it for, but there are a few things I need to fix on it before everything is prestine, so I was looking for your opinions.

My driver side powered mirror is broken and I need to replace it. Are there aftermarket mirrors anybody likes, or should I just stick with OEM? I have no gripes with the current mirrors, but I am having trouble deciding on whether or not I want to dish out the extra bucks for a painted OEM.

Do you all have stock mirrors still, or is there an aftermarket brand y'all trust? I've looked online and nothing stood out, and I didn't see any posts about this on the forum, but I only went a few pages deep.

Thank you

Re: Powered Side Mirrors?

OEM mirrors are your best bet. You can pick up a used one from a part-out thread for a good price, and maybe one that's the same color as your car at that.

The only decent options are the OEM power folding mirrors (stock mirrors that fold in when you shut your car off) these are VERY expensive and quite rare, they also require some custom wiring to make them work. So for the time being, just get a stock replacement.

There are a few companies that made aftermarket mirror -glass replacements (level is one brand for example) these mirrors (just the glass) are just a different color - yellow or blue or red(i think) But they've been discontinued for awhile now so it's a bit of a hunt to find.

Even if you can't find a set of oem mirrors the same color it is ridiculously easy to take apart and pull the old one out and swap the new ones in. Its what I did when I added PFMs on my car.

car-part.com is where I look for my parts from junkyards close to my area. Depending on how far, I usually get them to ship it over.

Awesome! Thank you all for the advice. I'll go with OEM, because unfortunately it is the actual enclosure that is broken off of the side of the car.

Thanks again!

Well, OEM is more reliable than aftermarket. Yes they are cheap but you are not sure about the quality and performance. There are lots of replacement parts stores and they have a wide range of brands to choose from for honda mirrors...
