How bad of a problem is this?

I noticed that my paint was stating to bubble on the passenger side (wheel well) so I looked in the trunk see there is no water. There was a problem with the back windshield at one point I had that fixed. So I looked into the quarter panel I found rust on the inside panel I think it's rust? I also found rust all the way around the wheel well in and outside the car picture below. What has to be done should I leave it for now? Or should I even drive it? Please help thanks.

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

Your car has a case of the classic Honda Cancer. Almost all (or a huge percent) of Hondas start to rot out around the rear wheel wells over time. If you don't fix it it will only get worse. You can defiantly drive it. Its pretty much just cosmetic and how nice you want your car to look. Eventually you will have a hole back there and less material to work with and will be harder to repair and do patch work.

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

It's just surface rust for now. First chance you get - take care of it.

Sand down the rusted area and remove the rust, then spray it with some rustolium and get some decent paint to line your wheel wel with (truck bed-liner spray or something of the sorts that will protect the paint from rockchips etc that will allow salt n stuff to corrode then rust the quarter)

My accord was at this stage when I moved in 05. I figured I could let it go and take care of it later - So I went to about a year later and I was already too late...

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

that 3rd picture is more than just surface rust, its eaten away at like 80% the thickness of the metal, or so it looks like. the only way to properly fix that is to cut all the infected metal out and weld new sheet metal in, or else you'll accidentally poke a hole thru the rust while your car is on the dyno, like i did

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

What do you guys think about pic #4? Does the quarter panel have to come out to fix that?

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

unfortunately the 1/4 panel is part of the unibody, you can't take it off the car. gotta cut it out

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

Is that okay to be done? Or would it be better to leave it? How bad would it be if I left it? Not to say I want to it's a great car do t really want to loose it.

Re: How bad of a problem is this?

Cutting it out and replacing the metal on the quarter panel is the way you're supposed to fix it.

I would fix it as soon as you could.. It's not gonna get any better
