This is taking weight savings a little far....It would really be more work than it is worth.

Re: Rsx-S subs in a Prelude?

Yea I agree about factory subs being of poor quality. Maybe you could find a relatively lightweight shallow mount sub like the shallow Rockford P3?

Ya they have a bose stereo system. i know a guy that has one in his rx7.. But i agree with everyone. for the price of that sub you could probably find a sub thats better. I would get a shallow mount Alpine Type R. Dont know how much they way though but i wouldnt sweat it.

Re: Rsx-S subs in a Prelude?

If at all possible stay away from shallow mount/slim line subs for normal applications. Your weight saviings will be in the range of a couple pounds and shallow subs are really only good for their intended purpose, reproducing low frequencies where you couldn't normally put a conventional sub. They are generally very inefficient and require a lot of power to reproduce a relatively small amount of bass. A good solution would be something like JLs 8w3 loaded enclosure. Its very small, quite light and puts out a surprising amount of bass requiring a minimal amplifier. Also very cost effective.

Re: Rsx-S subs in a Prelude?

Alpine and Rockford both make amazing shallow mount subs. Pioneer has a decent one that you could pick up at bestbuy for relatively cheap as well.

Well I found a guy selling the rsx subs for $40 and the rsx amp for $40 so i though that is pretty cheap.
