How did this happen where now shall i go? must sEE

Wow how did this piston explode like this in maybe three times of running? Aw man my heart sank. Also that gouge going down the cylinder wall is not cool in the least. Well, Im just going to deal and build something. Any opinions?? Should i take this block to the machine shop for a .25 bore and hone and be done??? Or start over?? Can the block even still be bored? I really dont know. That piston is way messed up and mess up everything else Any opinion is great, i might even get a good bashing!! anyway whOOOOAAAA

yup, i built it in 2007. just got it running cause i moved away and my car wasnt with me. Ran it 3 or four times boom ticking, my other ''Rattling'' thread had the vid. they came in a honda box withe the red tag. advertised as honda. i have no idea what happened. now i just got to do a new block or something? oh man crapola/////////////////////////

dANNNGGGGG. u think thats not salvagable???? i dont know any different that one wall if way scored up. Thank for the sympathy though, haha... well does an older h22a block work with the h22a4 head? just do when i look for one now those options are there. I'm not giving up on this car. At least its something to tinker with and one day drive again.!

That block is trashed. Time to either get it resleved, or replace the block with H22A. Mine did same thing with factory pistons.

Looks like that piston skirt overheated. Is it possible that the piston was not the correct size? Did you get the A or B pistons based on cylinder? Did you blueprint the block/pistons fit and clearances? I doubt it based on the result. I am guessing the friction built up heat and cracked the wrist pin area. It looks blue like it has been hot. Also if the engine has been sitting for years did you crank with coil unpluged to get oil up in cylinders prior to starting.
