help with on replacing a knock sensor!!!

I just recently bought a 97 Sh and I am trying to pass emission but cannot because of the check engine light is on. The code for it is P0325 meaning faulty knock sensor. I have been researching and calling around shops and everything is telling me that you have to remove the intake manifold. so my question is is there any other way to do with without removing the intake manifold? I mean there has to be a way right? I do not want to waste 450 bucks for a shop to do this. please help...

u have the bad luck of having a SH, regular base model ludes don't have the ATTS unit in the waay. its not a hard job to do your self it u have a free day. a knock sensor does cost somewhere around 80 dollars. however theres ways to fake a knock sensor signal. u should look in to that.

Re: help with on replacing a knock sensor!!!

if this helps .. mine hasnt been in for the past 8 months since when i broke it by accident while doing my head gasket .. recently i change my oilcooler o-ring and i check just for the fun of it if i had more room to get it in, well i did so i finally got that sucker in ! so if you rather remove the oilcooler then the intake manifold go for it ! it seems like alot less longer job to so took me an hour with replacing the oilcooler o-ring

Pineabs, what do you mean there ways to fake knock sensor singal? and for vtectapin, where is the oilcooler located at? do you think unplugging the battery and reset the computer will keep it off long enough for me to replace the knock sensor? that is what I really worrying about right now.

he needs to pass emissions he will fail the OBD2 plug test if he did that. i'm not 100% possitive since i use a OBD1 ecu on my 97 but if u reset the ECU the knock code should go away and only comes back after ur engine detects a knock or you are attempting to hit vtec. at least thats how my ECU would show my lack of knock sensor.
