Passenger Door

So my passenger door latching/locking mechanism has gone bad. Right now im at the point where I have the door panel off, the door cannot be opened. It is locked shut. I have some options to go about this I think.

Order from a honda a new door panel and locking/latching mechanism

Get a used door with all the internals from a junkyard

Just get the locking/latching mechanism from a junkyard and the door panel from honda.

Any others? What do you all suggest? 5th gen black 97 SH in ktown wisconsin

Re: Passenger Door

The locking mech is broken? You should be able to pull one of the rods and manually unlock it if you've got all the stock sound deadener removed.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to manually unlock it from within that door if you already have everything off. So give that a shot, if you get a new door or anything - either way you need to get that door open. Better off trying everything now before wasting the money.

If you can - post a picture of what you've got removed right now. Unfortunately the door panel is something I don't have pictures of - since mine are completely dynomatted.

Re: Passenger Door

i can go take a pic now, and the manual locking linkage does not move to fully unlatch the door from being shut, im guessing there is some corrosion in there right now

Re: Passenger Door

If you don't have it already - try downloading the helms manual and checking out section 20-3

SpoonerTuner.com - Free downloadable Honda Acura Factory Service Manuals by HELMS

If you can get it to budge a little, try lifting up on the door while unlatching it. But yeah get a pic if you can, and check out that manual
