Excellent Plan to trade Accord Sedan into Honda Prelude

Hi, and thanks for the post replies, because I am getting into the Prelude state of mind here as my Honda Accord 1999 EX V6 is not the type of car I am into anymore.

So, I want to figure out a way to trade up for a Prelude. I was thinking that one way to do this would be to increase the performance on my Accord so that it is more race-ready.

Has anyone ever thought about ways to increase the power of an Accord in order to make it easier to trade up to a Prelude, yes or no?

I was kind of thinking to dish out the headlights and go with some California custom bucket lights or HID displays. Then moving along to the interior, I would re-up it with modern peanut butter leather like the kind that is so popular in the modern Mazda lines.

Also, to move to more of a power-based mod, I was thinking to get some type of radical cam and maybe porting out the intake a little bit. Did I mention that this is a V6? Did anyone hear about modding out the cam on a V6 Accord? Especially a 1999? Sedan? I think that some go-to power modding is really all this car needs to shape up into something that is so further along.

My Accord has always been a Prelude slayer anyway, not even a SH could beat this car if we are talking bone stock to stock.

no point putting money towards a car you are just going to trade in. it will not increase the value, if anything its going to hurt you. why not save the money you were going to spend on the accord and take the accord in for trade and use that money on top of the car?

And for future reference, the SH model is slightly slower in a straight line compared to the base due to the extra weight of the ATTS.

Save the money and buy the prelude. You will never be happy with the Accord by the sounds of it.

I have heard of a twin turbo V-6 Accord Coupe though. You can do things, they are just expensive, and hard to find.

Re: Excellent Plan to trade Accord Sedan into Honda Prelude

a stock lude losing to a stock accord?! since when?! i raced one at my local track when all i had was a filter from spectre in the 1/4 mile race and his was a coupe not the sedan and i beat him by at least a cars length! im surprised none of u guys have said anything bout that. stock accords arent even made to be a race car. v6 or not. when prelude are designed as a sports car. im not hating in accords or tryn to be an arse or a douche but i gotta say that i do not agree that a stock sedan accord will beat a lude.

Re: Excellent Plan to trade Accord Sedan into Honda Prelude

Sale your accord the way it is right now and you may just get enough money to get a pretty good looking prelude. People like cars that are stock with no mods so the value stays up...

Re: Excellent Plan to trade Accord Sedan into Honda Prelude

Unless your v6 accord is swapped to a manual, there is no sense in modding it. The Trans will eventually crap out.

Re: Excellent Plan to trade Accord Sedan into Honda Prelude

yeah ^ x2. people don't want to buy anything that someone else has "customized" because chances are that whatever your idea of "upgrades" are, someone else will not even see a point in, much less actually like it. your best bet is to stay as stock as you can, otherwise someone will probably think you were some crazy, fartpipe-loving, ricer-raging moron. and then...they won't want your car
