New ECU for 5 Speed swap

im gathering all the parts necessary for my 5 speed swap on my Prelude. i saw on a website a 2000 5 Speed Ecu for sale about $115. my prelude is a 2001 base, does it matter if there is a diffrence in year? and what would i have to do to get it reprogrammed to work with my car. and are there any negative effects of changing out the ECU.

Re: New ECU for 5 Speed swap

Just do this The official auto to manual ECU conversion thread - Honda-Tech

Much easier and you wont have any cel's when you do it. Your ecu will work just like a 5spd ecu

oo i read up somewhere that if you do the conversion the car can give some rough idling problems. not sure if its true.

and i havent really completed the swap yet or for that matter completed it but im rounding up all the parts. for now i have Transmission, fly wheel, clutch VSS, starter.
