Remote start & immobilizer

I'm thinking of getting a remote start alarm for my 5th gen and I noticed that the immobilizer system must be bypassed in order for the remote starter to work..

The question is.. if that immobilizer is bypassed, can someone steal the car without the chipped key?

I'm just worried about theft cuz I had an Integra and it got stolen so I read that it's very hard to steal a 5th gen prelude because of the immobilizer.

Re: Remote start & immobilizer

It only bypasses it when you autostart it which is why your autostart module is attached to the bypass module only. If you try and autostart your car without a chipped key even if you have the bypass installed, it won't do anything. I have a Viper alarm and Ive tried this.

BTW. If your getting an autostarter installed, I'd highly suggest CompuStar. I'm pulling my Viper out cuz I've had so many problems of it not starting sometimes and I'm getting a Compustar Pro put in. Heard nothing but good things about it.

Re: Remote start & immobilizer

Get Scytek alarms (Galaxy 5100RS FM Car Alarm ) They are the beezneez and have a butt load of attachments like GPS finder, window modules with temp sensor, radar sensor, etc

OH and don't install the alarm under the steering column if you are seriously trying to protect your car install it where no one would think to look or be able to access easily. And get a battery back up for the alarm in case someone tries to disconnect the car battery. If you want more ideas/information let me know and I can help.
