Window Rolling Slowly

My windows, both driver and passenger side, role very slowly. The driver side is a bit faster but the passenger side is incredibly slow. What can I do to fix this? Replace the regulator? motor? I'm hoping it's not motor cuz it's $150 at Majestic...

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

the motor isn't going out, you just need to spray some litium greese on the rubber moldings where the window sticks in. Same thing was happening with my car

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

Quick question, does it speed up if you give it some revs?

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

No it doesn't speed up when I rev it. It's the same speed no matter how fast I drive. How do you grease it without taking apart the door? Don't you have to grease the tracks in the door?

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

A bit of a thread highjack I guess, but I have the same problem, and yes my windows speeds up a bit if I give it revs, but its still going really slow (infact, the windows dosn't go up straight, so I have to help the windows up using my hands to push/pull.)

And at speed the driver side window will actualy go outside the windowseal and not close unless I put my hand out the sunroof, and push the window inwards while closing it with the motor :/

I've bought a new window seal (the outermost one) but not replaced it yet.
Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, is it an easy fix while you have the door apart?
(I'm guessing something is either really loose or broken, as something rattles in both doors as the car vibrates etc. But as I havn't had the door apart yet I'm asking around first)

This is the right spray I'm assuming: 3-in-1 Silicone Spray | Canadian Tire

You'll need a new regulator.

The fact that your motor has enough power to push and pop it out seems like that doesn't require replacement

Silicon spray is....silicon spray.

Its silicon...and you spray it. I don't think I could be more concise about this.

You can get it at auto parts stores, NAPA, Agway (although I think there is only one in the world, its a hardware/farm type store), Lowes and Home Depot would also carry it most likely.

Spray it on the rubber tracks the ride on both sides of your window. Lubrication....it helps.

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

Ok. Bought some Silicon Spray and it worked! Going up and down pretty fast now. I'm going to take the door apart tomorrow and spray the tracks and stuff so that goes perfectly smooth.

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

After having the same problem with my driver's side ( window tilting slightly forward/ sometimes popping outside the weather guard) and searching the threads on here I spent a couple hours trying to adjust the regulator and window guide bolts to make them tight enough that the window wouldn't tilt but would still go up/down... Well I only made it worse and after putting everything back basically the way it was, the window was having an even harder time than before. the only thing I had on hand at the time (which I am sure is horrible for the rubber) was WD40, I only gave it a tiny shot just to see if it was actually just a lube problem and sure enough it helped!!!! :-) I don't know how I missed this thread but when I started to look for what kind of lube I should use I found it. And I am glad I did. LOVE PZ

Not sure if WD40 is silicon based, but use a silicon-based spray

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

I always keep W40 in the car... it helps but only lasts for like 3 days... lubrication with silicon ima try that.... i meen our cars are old and the rubber becomes tough.... lubrication basically is the key...

Re: Window Rolling Slowly

everything but silicone will degrade your seals and runners. grease especially will collect other contaminants and dry out. wd40 will dry out after a day. most other things will wreck window tint.

SILICONE SPRAY

where to get it cause most parts stores have silicone based spray lubricants. this is not what you want. the other stuff in the can will wreck your car. the #1 place for silicone is nissan. ask the techs at your local honda dealer. they will tell you nissan. its nissan brand, 100% pure silicone in an aerosol can. i sprayed the outside of my tires in july, the water still beads off now and its obvious cause i only sprayed the one tire with it. used it on my window and presto... trust me, i dont like nissan but this stuff is the shiznit.
