People usually will paint it instead of replacing the whole piece.

be sure to buy all new clips for the trim as well, as the become brittle over time and will most likely break during the removal of the old trim.

its not that difficult its only held in place by clips (cant remember how many off top of my head)..
and like ogsmakdade mentioned, make sure u have new clips handy, the original ones have been on there for a while and they can easily break..

Re: Exterior bottom black window strip

I searched for this but can't find it. Does anyone know the proper way to remove the trim and replace it with the new part? I believe that quite awhile back I read a thread that people were going back and forth about the right way to remove it. Also, how many clips are needed per side?

Re: Exterior bottom black window strip

I searched for this but can't find it. Does anyone know the proper way to remove the trim and replace it with the new part? I have found the correct parts on Honda parts now and Majestic, but I don't want to F up the car removing the old ones.

Cool. Thanks bro. Whoa wait. I thought the thread was about the bottom window strip. Not the vertical one.

Re: Exterior bottom black window strip

I think their might be a cap on one end, take off the cap and slide it off the door.
If that doesnt work, take off the door panel and use a flat head screw drivers to pry up on those plastic clips till the trim pops off.

Uhh, okay. I am pretty sure it pulls right up but the side mirror was my major concern.

Re: Exterior bottom black window strip

on most hondas you would have to take the side mirror off to properly take off that window molding strip.

Re: Exterior bottom black window strip

I actually did this the other day. didnt take long. will post pics soon. basically you have to pop off the interior door panel and unscrew the mirror. Its not hard or difficult and I dont see how ANYONE could break one of those clips on the trim. Anyways, I sanded the trim strips down with a dremel and then gave them three quick coats of some rustoleum black trim paint. they look amazing.
