Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

So im about to put some time into the interior of the car and working with some carbon fiber for a while. Im not to sure what to use in the car color wise and figured I'll get some advice from yall before I got and order some things. I was thinking about doing the red/black CF for trim pieces or smaller pieces and the black BF for larger pieces. Or should I stick to just one color like black or red/black. I really like how both look but not sure on what direction to go with it. I plan on doing new seats, carpet with red so that may give you some idea of where im going with it.

here is what the red/black looks like

http://cgi.ebay.com/Carbon-Fiber-Kev...item1c19203b5f
Interior right now is the normal all black everything

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

do what you like, its your car and your taste. some people like one thing while others dislike it. im really geting tired of seeing cf in every other prelude. ive got the oem faux cf trim kit, plus some cf accents and they are about to go. the lack of originality in preludes is getting old. no one is doing anything new, no progression. it seems like everyone either has gold/bronze/gunmetal rims, lip kits, fogs and every other interior is the same. Personally i would stay with the black, its clean, basic and simple, nothing wrong with that.

but regardless of what i said, it is your car so do what you want, opinions are like assholes, we all got em.

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

yeah the first picture, its not the fact that its wrapped but what im wanting to do. only way I can even explain it is when I do it ill show post pics. Its in my head and ive come up with the design a while back just havent applied it to nothing yet. that looks like di-noc wrap btw, is it?

I think ya took it the wrong way but the way I wrote it i guess its easy to. The design I want to do with it i havent seen done yet, idk if its gone work or not. it may look great, it may be a total fail but only way to find out is to do it. Ill post of a sketch of what im talking about later

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

nah it wasnt the 3m. its since been redone. i didnt like how the edges would get bundled up, so i re wrapped it. i dont really like how the wrap looks though. if i dont get rid of it, im going to get actual carbon fiber sheets and do it the right way and vacuum form it. then put some resin on top to complete it. personally though, im going to go back to how it was, originally. i really like the cleanliness of the black on black. i want to get rid of my seats and door inserts and get black leather instead of the cognac. i liked it, but its time for something else. not really a fan of the type s interior as well.

Amen!

I think there are entirely too many which looks better posts. Do your thing, make it the way you want it and say here it is! Some people like what's been done. that's cool. some people like innovation. I like there you're going with making your own, but its more or leess making parts you could buy and bolt on. Personally I like to do things no one else does. And thinking of this has inspired a new Sig....

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

You weren't joking about smoking the green lol.

You can do some pretty wild stuff with the way you lay the weave. Seen some really cool stuff. Especially when using carbon/colored kevlar mix.

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

After brainstorming all day while in lecture I figured out how im going to do this. I'm going to use the red/black carbon fiber that I ordered and just use a solid piece of cf to wrap the arm rest, do all the resin work, sand and get ready for the final clear coat. Before I put on the clear coat im going to pinstripe the design onto the sanded resin...after done with that, Im gone throw in a little suprise that I think will be very cool but you wont be able to see it on a normal day ....last Ill paint the clear coat on to bring out the cf finish and the design will have a clear coat as well. I think this is gone come out pretty good with this technique. wish me luck, supplies should be here soon

Re: Carbon Fiber Interior-some general advice

Brush a few coats of clear resin over the carbon before you sand it back, if you hit the carbon with the sandpaper it will look like crap.

Good luck with it.
