Please help! No start

So about a month ago my car wouldnt start. It would crank just fine but it wasnt getting any spark. I checked all the fuses and everything and couldnt figure it out. And i had just moved so i didnt have any of my tools, my brother in law's garage/knowledge, or anything so i just took it to a shop and asked them to diagnose it for me and said call me if the cost approaches $100. Long story short they never called me, i went and picked up my car and it was $270 and all they did was replace the spark plugs. Needless to say im never ever going back there again. The guy told me that Hondas dont like cold weather especially when they arent used to it and said that sometimes oil will get in to the spark plugs when you try to start it and said that as soon as that happens youre screwed. That doesnt sound right to me and ive never heard that before but whatever my car has started up fine ever since then. Last night was one of the colder nights we have had in a while and this morning my car wouldnt start and it was doing the exact same thing. Im going to try replacing my spark plugs again in about an hour but why is my car doing this! Any help is appreciated

Re: Please help! No start

About 3 months ago i blew a coolant hose and my engine overheated pretty bad. Im thinking that my head could have been damaged im not sure tho. If it was damaged could that be what was causing all of this?

Re: Please help! No start

I'm actually having this exact same problem. I've checked everything I can think to checked, tested the battery numerous times, rechecked everything again and I'm still stuck. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to a CKP/TDC sensor or the ignition switch, but I'm leaning more towards the CKP/TDC sensor. Don't waste your money on more plugs/wires.

PS - Are you throwing and CEL's?

i dont think it will throw a CEL if it isnt running or up to temp.

I've heard of something similar to this and it involved the crank sensor too, something about the crank sensor getting too hot and after that it won't send the right signal or a signal at all so then ur dizzy wont be able to send the signal to ur plugs. But if u think u might have warped ur head when you overheated ur car then get a compression test done, because if you did then thats not somethin u'll be able to fix by just changing ur plugs anyway.

Maybe all H series CKP/TDC sensors were designed to fail in 2011. lol

Re: Please help! No start

so i check my spark plugs and they were all wet with oil... and when i took them out i smelled fuel... i replaced the plugs like a month and a half ago... what would make them go bad that quickly? and have oil on them? im sure the fuel is from me trying to start it like 5-6times..

i cleaned them up and took sandpaper to the top of the plugs (where they create spark), put them back in and the lude started right up.

Re: Please help! No start

To Sleeperprelude:
your valve cover gasket kit comes with spark plug grommets that will prevent oil from getting down into the spark plug bore. If you are getting oil on your plugs most of the time its because those have hardened up and aren't keeping the oil inside the head from creeping down to your plugs. Keep in mind that the gas probably is from you trying to start it when they weren't firing but if they don't have oil on them and they are wet with gas, you have another problem, probably a leaking injector. Lol and just make sure not to take sandpaper to platinum plugs.

Re: Please help! No start

Was the oil on the inside of the plug or on the outside where the boot attaches?
