how to uninstall vtec controller!?!?!?

Hi all,

I have a Apexi Vtec controller installed in my 99 honda prelude SH ever since I bought the car. When I first got the car I did not know what the controller did and I was messing around with and somehow accidently reset it. I didn't know how to retune it and just left it on default for a while now. I want to uninstall it and take it out but when I tried I couldnt find the OEM wires that connect back to the ECU. what happens if I just leave the wires out and not replug it? anyone here have the step by step on how to install the vtec controller or pictures? please help!!! I think it is causing my car to run rich and have the check engine light on.

I believe it only controls when the car goes in to vtec. You should have your code checked. I don't have the controller but I would assume if its removed the ecu would start to control the vtec.

Very easy, either A the person you bought the car from bought the harness, its simple plug and unplug from the ECU.

Or B. Its black taped with the wires..simple un-strip, re-do the original wires.

yes, I located the wires that connects the vtec controller to the ecu but the problem is I do not know what the orginal wiring looks like. Also what would happen if I just unplug those wires and but not replug to the original wires? would vtec still work??

There all color coded you will see. The Vtec controller wires are just tapped into it.

Not entirely true. Some VTEC controllers can also control fuel trims to a very slight extent. But like Blake said, the engine will not run if you just yank it out and leave wires disconnected.

Really all you have to do is remove the VTEC controller, then reconnect the wires in the OEM harness. Like said before, they are color coded so it's really really easy. I say go for it, and if you get confused, take some pictures and we'll help you out.
