Air Conditioning/ECU Problem.....

On my 2001 'Lude the AC clutch will not kick in and turn the compressor. However, I can jumper the clutch relay and it will kick in and make cold air. The voltage to the relay that tells the clutch to come on/cycle on comes from the ECU, pin 17 I think. My pin 17 is dead and wont give me an output no matter what I do. I have had 2 shops tell me that I need a new ECU to get my AC back on. Does anyone have any experience with any company doing repairs on your ECU. I would rather have mine repaired so I wont have to deal with reprogramming keys for the Immobilizer. Any help with this will be appreciated.

Re: Air Conditioning/ECU Problem.....

there are several things that you can check that run off the same system as the A/C clutch circuit.
you should have voltage at pin 4 of the A/C relay and 0 volts at terminal 2 of the relay with the A/C button pressed on.
other things you need to check
check your radiator fan relay and make sure its working properly
and also your radiator fan switch

Thanks for your reply. I am not looking at the schematic right now, but I do know that when the A/C button is pushed that the cooling fan does come on. So, that may be the pin you are referring to. I am going to have to put a meter on it and see what exactly is going on.

I do not remember what they are, but that was one of the first things I had checked. I took it into a shop to have the charge checked and pressures were good. So, pressure switch should be satisfied to let clutch engage.
