Re: can u lower a stock springs?

You can cut or compress springs but that's extremely dangerious and not recommended. Skunk2 has one of the lowest drops. If you want to use your stock shocks, you'll need to get a drop not as agressive. Something like Tein's or Neuspeed which are about 1.3-1.5 or 1.5-1.7. Even then, it might blow. You'll also want to consider a camber kit if you find any wear.

Re: can u lower a stock springs?

If you want to stay on stock springs and drop the car, then your only option is Koni yellow shocks.
They have different mount pirches that you can set your springs on to lower or raise your car.

edit:

see how the shocks have little slits in them? you put in a snap ring at whatever height you want, slide on the spring seat and bam height adjustable shocks. Not to mention Koni yellows are some of the best shocks you can get.

Re: can u lower a stock springs?

If you're not looking for performance/rough ride and just want it lowered i would honestly just get lowering springs and some nice shocks like the ones above. ive had coilovers and they are **** for comfortable. you can get different rates to get it softer but in my opinion when u get a lowering spring you have more spring than you would with a coilover which allows for a softer ride.

Re: can u lower a stock springs?

Im assuming he just doesn't wanna spend any dough. So short answer....no.

The adjusable shocks aren't gonna get you the desired effect because they only affect the speed of compression and rebound. They don't do anything for the height. That is solely controlled by the coil.

For economical setup that is good looking/riding/performing/wallet compasionate I would suggest the skunk coils and kyb gr2 shocks.

Re: can u lower a stock springs?

Or have lowering springs and blow your shocks, then you'll have a bouncy smooth ride... somewhat.

buy 4 bags of sand...problem fixed :D

You wont blow your shocks, you'll only do that if he cuts the springs.

Why do people half ass mod? I dont get it. If you cant afford proper parts, leave it alone. Hack jobs cost way more time and money in the end.

Dude..stock shocks are not ment for lowering. Im sure some idiot will jump in and tell you how great his car rides with stock shocks and lowering springs...but the fact is it doesnt. The shock is only made to compress so much....as much as the stock spring provides. Save your money and do it right the first time. Or throw springs on it just for the apperance and look like a asshole bouncing around with ****ty handling.

That ebay rim thread made me ROFL..hahahahahahaha. WOW...I am assuming that a lot of these people doing things like this are high school kids....with no experiance and little finances. Hopefully they figure out not to half ass stuff from advice given on here.

"I just want the look. I dont care about the brand" Pretty much defines the term "ricer".

Coilovers are for if you plan on changing ride height alot..ive had them and honestly its a pain in the ass and wasnt worth my time. I prefer spring/shock setups because i dont change suspension heights. But its relevent to what you want with the car. If your autocrossing, coil overs are a neccessity...even if your building a drag car, coil overs can help a lot. The faster you make the car (im talking about high hp/tq gains, not exhaust and intake gains) the more you will benefit from adjustable setups.
Use google man...honestly I dont know where you honda guys go for parts. Personally, I buy all my stuff from extremepsi.com but its mostly for boosted cars.

They mount onto aftermarket shocks so if you have stock shocks, you'll have to change them cuz skunk2's drop your car a lot.

Re: can u lower a stock springs?

i was told that adjustable sleeves aren't worth it...

& some1 on here on this thread, told me stock shocks aren't made to handle low ride height.

my suggestion would be to save and wait a little longer, and get coilovers, or new springs & new shocks
