Icon5 Transmission problem?

Hey guys, new to the site. I have an automatic 5th gen base model. Been having problems with the car shifting late and when in reverse, not working right at all. Its also been idling at about 500. When in triptronic, and i shift, it shifts maybe a second or 2 afterward.
Ive read alot on here about the 5th gens having problems with the tranny. With things that i've read on here about when a tranny starts to go, im thinking thats whats maybe going on with it.
But the question is, could it have started from getting a regular tranny flush and not actually going and getting the right fluid being honda (like i have read on another forum)? Would the problem arise again if a new automatic transmission is installed or rebuilt..... or would I be better off going for a manual transmission swap?
Thanks in advance for the help

Re: Transmission problem?

we always recommend the 5sp swap if you can swing it.

if you keep or replace the auto with another auto, always use honda trans fluid only. you can't drive it like a racecar, the trans will fail.

Re: Transmission problem?

Changing the fluid is a drain and refill using only Honda ATF-Z1 fluid. You should never ever have it power-flushed at a shop.
