Have a problem with the exhaust.

I just got my Prelude back from the muffler shop and I hate how it sounds in the lower rpms. It has a raspy sound, especially around 2.5k rpm. I have the Hytech replica header, 3" mandrel bent piping, Magnaflow hi-flow cat, vibrant 18" resonator and Apexi ws2 muffler. I know going 3" it was going to be hard to take care of the raspy sound but that's one reason I got an 18" long resonator and the Apexi ws2 muffler. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? I'm thinking about adding another resonator if I can.

Also if this has anything to do with it I just had the engine rebuilt and it is currently running on the basemap until I can get it to the dyno next Tuesday. Also engine mods are skunk2 pro 1 cams, skunk2 valvetrain, 11:1 compression pistons, aem intake, and Hondata Heatshield.

Re: Have a problem with the exhaust.

try and fit an actual muffler under the car instead of a resonator

i run 3" all the way and have no raspiness issues. i do run 2 ultra quiet resonators though. make sure there are no leaks, too.

That does seem like a good ideal. Only problem is if i do lower it, which is about a 50 percent chance right now, might not have enough ground clearance. I'll look into it though thanks.

Yeah I think I'm going to add another resonator. Who made the resonators you're running with?

vibrant...i ordered them from here...

Vibrant Exhaust Fabrication - Ultra Quiet Resonators - Import DPS Online - Your Import and Sport Compact Performance Source - Free Shipping on all orders over $50

but i really want to change them to the bottle style standard resonator due to ground clearance issues!

there is a sound clip on my picture thread of my set up.

Re: Have a problem with the exhaust.

ultra quiet resonator is the key to getting rid of the raspy\fart noise

my friend who worked at an exhaust for a few years swears a glasspack will work too. i cant confirm that.

i can confirm ultra quiet resonators work.

Re: Have a problem with the exhaust.

yeah the only drawback is the design. the bottle style is more "lowered" friendly. i drag mine sometimes, and i really dont like that they have lips on them, kinda scary.
