5TH GENERATION PRELUDE GENEALOGY

I thought I would bring to light the significant performance contributions of the previous 4 generations of USDM Preludes in what I believe in the order of importance that led up to the USDM 5th gen Prelude ,which in its most refined form, is arguably one of the most advanced FWD cars every built for the USDM.Any additions or changes to the list that people might suggest will be considered and amended .

1st gen contributions:
1:The cars basic lay out
2: The very efficient and well layed out instrument cluster
3:Front air dam
4: Keep it light /do more with less design philosophy

2nd gen contributions:
1: A 2nd intake valve was added and the engine received a cross flow head.
2: Double wishbone front suspension
3:Electronic fuel injection
4: Suspension designed to change its alignment during cornering when the spring compresses such that it keeps the tire normal to the road thus maintaining tire grip with the road .
5: The engine received a primitive but effective 4-2-1 exhaust manifold
6:Bucket seats
7:The power steering was enhanced with variable assist.
8:A very steeply sloped hood that gives the driver a go cart like view of the road and its wedge shape significantly reduced the cars drag coefficient
9:Gear shift travel was shortened considerably
10: A plastic shield placed under the engine used to keep the air flowing under the car instead of scooping up into the engine compartment and causing drag inducing turbulence ( I think the 1st gen did not have one ???)

3rd gen contributions:
1: DOHC engine
2: Wheel diameter was increased from 13" which gave the user better tire choices
3: Anti lock brakes
4: Double wishbone suspension added to the rear
5: Duel path intake manifold
3rd gen downside : As all automakers have done practically to the present date , Honda continued with this car the process of enlarging the Prelude causing a deterioration of the 2nd gen Prelude's ideal L*W*H and its the relatively low 2480 LB weight. At least they did a good job of holding down the cars height which aids in keeping the cars center of gravity down low despite protest from tall people the world over.

4th gen Prelude :
1: VTEC and the other engine enhancements that went along with it
2: A much more rigid body .
3:Much more powerful 11.1" front brake disks in the front
4: Improved head lights

Notes:

1: Some 5th gen ludes overseas were equipped with 4 wheel steering.
2: Some 2nd gen ludes overseas were equipped with a DOHC engine
3: The 1st gen Prelude came with a 2nd intake valve that fed air to a pre combustion chamber as part of the CVCC system.
