Squeaking from sunroof

So I'm getting a terribly annoying squeaking/re-er, re-er sound from my sunroof while driving. If I crack it slightly the sound goes away, any ideas?

Also, squeaking coming from my front suspension, bushings? Can I just lube them?

Re: Squeaking from sunroof

You must grease the runners on both sides of the sunroof... And pretty sure theres no grease zurks for the bushings so just replace them, they're inexpensive.

Re: Squeaking from sunroof

It sounds like air is getting in somewhere, have you tried holding a water hose on it to check for leaks? The squeaks up front could be the cold weather, I used to here squeaks in the cold with my stock setup. Does it do it all the time or does it go away after you have driven for a few miles?

Re: Squeaking from sunroof

All the time. I've only noticed it during the past few months though, could be the cold. But when I loosen/slightly open it the sound stops. It also only happens on rough roads or slowly driving on bumps/slopes (The sounds changes accordingly, i.e. more drawn out) etc.

i have it too bro.. it's just the cold weather..prob won't find anything to cut it out, other than your sound system.

Re: Squeaking from sunroof

Try using white lithium grease to fill in the leak and provide faster slding back of the roof.

Re: Squeaking from sunroof

Why do you think I have a leak, I haven't had any issues with water. The sound is similar to the squeaking sound of bushings. I greased the rails last summer, not to mention I haven't even opened the sunroof since November.

seriously the next person who says he has an air leak... no kidding, no sunroof is air tight 100%. but they usually are gripped enough not to let water in..so an air leak is not causing the sound he is talking about.

and even so, if he says he doesnt leak water, then stop referencing an air leak being the reason.

OP.. it's my understanding that your sunroof just squeaks when you are driving, but your sunroof is closed... how about the vinyl cover/slider, does it squeak when you have that open and let the sun in?... either way i'm still assuming the actual sunroof is closed when this happens like you said right?

if thats the case, then it's simply because it's super cold outside. wait till spring/summer and watch that ish go away. it goes away because the interior parts aren't "frozen" they are expanded, because it's vinyl and padding. greasing the rails will keep the tracks lubed up.. but will not solve your problem, i'll stand by that..

thats just the sunroof sealing.. if you notice when you open your roof.. it angles up and small degree to go back over your roof..

take a look at the rails.. it slumps back "down" to come meet your roof and seal it up, and lock it in to the rails/roof.. thats normal.. mine does it too.

Thanks for clearing that up, that's what I figured.

When the cover is closed the sound is less noticeable.

Has anyone tried using a polish/wax on the seal to see if it helps?

so ur sayin its normal for it to make that sound? but its hella loud bro. i've had plenty of other cars that have the same sunroof system (opens up and over) and they didnt sound nowhere near this loud. this sh*t sounds like its metal noise or sumthin.. idk.
