Auto 99 prelude

Hey i was just wondering if i made a good or bad choice in getting an auto prelude... I see alotof stuff on here knocking the auto transmission but i got an auto instead of 5 speed due to the huge amount of traffic in my area. I want to make it look and run its best but if itsnot worth the money id like to know. Thanks

the auto transmission's on prelude are not that good truthfully..... if you want to stick to a auto.. look for a used, or junked f22 or h22 auto transimission

Re: Auto 99 prelude

Auto transmissions aren't good on a lot of Honda's. A lot of the accords have issues along with the odyssey. My parents Acura CL-S also had their automatic tranny fail... this is the 3rd tranny for them. First was replaced by Acura under recall, second had to be rebuilt costing a bit over $3500.

I'd say do a 5 speed swap when your tranny dies since your transmission will die soon.

Re: Auto 99 prelude

depends on what year. I think 99+ had a "better" auto tranny that was less prone to failing. some fail immediately, some last forever. as long as you drive it normal and not tiptronic. you should be fine. also invest in a trans fluid cooler. heat = bad = dead trans

Re: Auto 99 prelude

When i 'did' have the lude it was a 99' auto, after a yr that tranny sh**ed on me so i ended up swapping it to a manual, unfortunately honda didn't cover 5th gen tranny failures unless you had a 00' or 01' auto
