Re: problem with steering

i had the exact same issue, you just need to get under your car and spray some wd-40 on the pulley and cables and DONE! if that dont help u need to tighten up ur cables.

when u lift the car up get under it and u will see a pulley and a cable on the driver side of the car, there is only 1 pulley so u wont be confused. plus its wd-40 u wont **** it up even if u spray the wrong belt.

spray both the bottom and top pulleys, for me just the bottom alone worked cuz i had the car on the lift at the dealership where i work at so i had access

Re: problem with steering

reika7, is it the belt squealing or is something else making the noise?

If the belt is slipping the steering will get heavier whenever you hear the noise. If this is the case then the belt needs to be either tightened or replaced.

If it's not the belt, then the first thing you should check is all your ball joints. If you have any blown ball joint boots then they could be corroded or running dry. Get a friend to turn the wheel while you try to find where the sound is coming from.

Ausluder.

Re: problem with steering

I think it is his steering column or rack and pinion.

Mine does it in the cold too. Not a big enough deal for me to worry about though.

Only when you turn the steering wheel right? It's a squeek not a squeal?

Re: problem with steering

guys just to clear things up spraying wd is the worst thing to spray on the belts, the oil is going to eat up the belts and the problem your having could be crank pulley going bad causing missalignment,or your belts are not correctly tighten .

Re: problem with steering

It isn't your belts leave them alone. It is something in the steering column, I am almost 100%. If you really want to find exactly where it is coming from stick your head under the dash and turn the wheel and if it isn't coming from there then have someone turn the wheel while you are listening for it under the hood.

Re: problem with steering

i heard it from the left everytime i drive. i think its bc the steering wheel is on the left side, its making the noise from there.
