Re: best oil and spark plugs

"best" is a relative term. although use nothing but ngk for plugs, they came stock, leave them that way. as for oil, anything name brand, synthetic or dino, all up to you. I have found that synthetic seems to burn less and leaves a not so noticeable cloud when hitting vtec. also, don't use royal purple, ever. I burned a quart off ina week compared to half a quart between changes with mobile1 synth

NGK plugs, Amsoil full synthetic, JDM hamp oil filter... but since my cars always had regular oil, I just use regular Mobil1 conventional oil and oil filter from honda.

Re: best oil and spark plugs

stock replacement plugs , factory filter and amsoil . check out blackstone's web site they do fluid analysis and time and time again amsoil shows less wear on the motor than any other brand of oil . i've run amsoil in all my bikes and cars and ive always been happy with there products .

lol it is expensive i know . i buy it by the case and i pay about 7 a quart for 10w30 . amsoil says you can go 10k on a single oil change and there is research showing this is true on blackstone's website . i still change it between 4 and 5 k . i just like knowing im doing all i can to protect my investment . every little bit counts . with a honda filter cost me about $50 bucks an oil change ( the 2.3 blue top holds almost 6 quarts so its an extra quart for me over your average 2.2 ) . either way its not cheap

thats honestly not bad at all. I'd rather pay about 7 for amsoil over the 7-8 for royal purple

I am a conventional oil person myself but to each his own.

If you do mostly hwy driving and are worried about saving on gas then use synthetic but depending on your engine and driving style it will burn off a lot quicker than conventional.

My personal experience... I used to use nothing by royal purple synthetic in my last prelude and it would burn through a quart in no time. I switched to a convetional mobil1 and didn't lose but a half a quart in 3000 miles.

Aslo, fu<k going over more than 5000 miles on an oil change. I would never go past 3000 miles but these new oils say they can last up to 10000 but do they know exactly how much wear and tear is going on in your engine? nooope.

My new h22a gets 10w-30 conventional mobil1 oil.

Re: best oil and spark plugs

If your car has always used conventional oil and is over 100,000. There's really no point in putting synthetic in your car unless your tuning it or something. Adding synthetic won't do much, you might feel a tad bit improvement but considering how high your engine clicks are. It'll be somewhat of a waste, don't quote me.

I personally use Mobil1 high millage or Penzoil. Usually whatever one is on sale. Mobil1 uses recycled oil where as Penzoil isn't. Those are just my opinion's, again. Don't quote me on this. This is just what I read. Avoid FRAM oil filters at all cost. Non of my mechanics recommend it and my most trusted mechanic wouldn't even let me use it. From what I heard, it's just plain crap.

Re: best oil and spark plugs

i always used ngk iridiums and castrol syntec 5w20 until castrol edge came out. now i use castrol edge 5w20. pennzoil is good as long as you change it every 3k to 3500k miles. it has been known to sludge up if you go over due to the fact it contains small amounts of paraffin. the shop i worked at for 2 years had a regular that bought i knew chevy 1500. he brought it to us and went 7900 miles on its second oil change. the oil was pennzoil 10w30. i took the drain plug out and nothing came out, after sticking a screwdriver in the hole chunks came out then really sludged up oil followed. oil filters are tricky. do research because as of two years ago there was only a handful of oil filter manufactures in the world. companies just add theyre lable to them. as in orielly brand filters are the same as mobile one. in the end it comes down to personal preference. just make sure you do your reg oil changes and your set any way you go.

actually yes they do know how much wear is going on as these motors are not that diff or special . go look at blackstone's web site this shows proof positive black oil dose not indicate its inability to do its job and neither dose 3k mileage . do you think manufactures are going to tell you to go 8k and destroy a brand new engine ( that they will have to pay for ) **** audi say you can go 15 k and ive seen many with over 100k and no issues . not to mention syn oils do not burn off as fast despite what you think . they have a higher evaporating temp so they do not coke or shillack as fast as conventional oil . if you think im wrong cook dyno oil and syn in a pan and see what one evaporates faster . if for some reason it didn't burn as much conventional oil in your car its because the oil was thicker despite what the weight rating was .

In a new car it is different.

They are designed differently and are usually more efficient. In my engine idc if the oil says it will last 15k my h22 will get it every 3k.

Iridium+MOBIL1+K&N OIL FILTERS From DAY1 (purchased car new or new motor)

Stay with one Synth-blend. Castrol, Quakerstate, Penzoil, etc use different detergents and mixes to reach same goal. changing from one oil company to another will sludge up your motor oil faster= more changes.
