Re: catalytic converter

well when i bought mine 2 days after buying it i had a friend run diagnostics on it after my check engine light went on. gave back a bad cat code. since he worked at an aftermarket car shop i got the cat weld on for 200 n 100 for labor. I guess previous owners or whoever the hell had my car before didnt care for it too well, that it sat out at the dealers for a few months allowing **** to build up maybe the cause of a bad cat, Since i got it i fill it with premium and it cleaned it out and threw the chk engine light. bad dealers they knew it passed smog with a barely passing rating... honda dealers want 600 or more for new cat bolt on i believe. so i just went with weld on.

Re: catalytic converter

what year is it? if it's a '97, you're covered under an extended emmissions warranty until 150k miles. honda will replace it for free.

Re: catalytic converter

Yup. My cat went back about a month ago so I got a Magnaflow highflow cat. Direct fit has the flanges pre-welded on. All you need to do is get gaskets and bolt them on.

what signs did you get that you needed to replace your cat? does your magnaflow highflow cat past inspection?

It threw a check engine light. I replaced both O2 sensors and they stayed on. Replaced the cat and went away. It passes Ontario inspection. I believe the only place it doesn't is California.

Bought a CARB legal Cat at Rockauto.com for $290 and it was a direct fit. Paid a garage $100 to install

Re: catalytic converter

Which one? Can you be more specific as to the one you bought and have you had any problems with it?

Re: catalytic converter

If you're replacing the cat maybe its time to do a full exhaust setup. You'll be happy you did. Check my signature for full parts list and link to exhaust run video.
