Difference between V2 and V1 foglights?

I'm looking to order some foglights off eBay and people are saying get the V2 replica's. How am I suppose to know what the difference is on eBay? Is there a way of telling?

Not a big fan of the yellow and I don't need genuine. Too expensive!:P

Re: Difference between V2 and V1 foglights?

If the fog kit comes with a new switch bezel to mount the switch, its a V2 kit. If it comes with an OEM style switch with no bezel, its V1.

V2s are made with metal enclosures and can handle a lot more heat, and brighter bulbs. V1s are made of mostly plastic, and WILL melt if you use bulbs over 35w.

Re: Difference between V2 and V1 foglights?

Is it generally a plug and play or do I have to solder and mod to get it to work?

K your obviously not reading my question. I was asking what the difference was between the V2 foglights vs the V1's and how to tell the difference. I didn't ask how to install it as I already have read how

Re: Difference between V2 and V1 foglights?

V2 = good.
V1 = ****.

V2 includes a fog light switch WITH new holder/bezel. The fog lights also have a metal housing (V1 is plastic).

v.2 fogs have a polycarbonate lens, harness has its own wiring harness witch supersedes the factory pre-run, you can use the factory pre-run if you add some adapters that are spade connector to bullet connector.the exterior harness also has this problem, again use an adapter these kits come with their own switch cubbie that fits all of the stock switch plus the fog switch

v.1 fogs have housings made entirely out of low temp plastic.(if you use HIDS or any halogen bulb over 35wt these WILL melt). the interior harness is a near exact copy of the jdm harness, switch style and wiring connectors. the exterior harness has some differences, the bulb connectors use bullet connectors instead of the standard spade, to run a standard h3 or h3c bulb this must be change, its easily fixed with some wire and connectors though.

edit: I should make a jdm fog faq one of these days
