Need input to save time, shifter cable replacement

Im currently living in some apartments and no assigned parking spaces. So Im trying to limit my down time in order to not have any issues with fellow residents.
97 SH. Having issues with my gears lining up, I can see that my bushings are also bad where the linkage connects to tranny. I figure my best approach is to just replace everything. Looking for anyone that has had any issues/hastles/headaches that they may have run into while working with these parts, so that I may avoid any wasted time.
Thanks in or if anyone will let me use their garage in Memphis.
